5 ideas to supercharge your social media as a class provider

So you’ve got the hang of basic posting to promote your baby & toddler classes on social media, and are ready to increase your reach. But how do you get more ‘bang for your buck’ out of each post?

Whether you’re a regular social media user or have recently got into it (see our ‘Do I even need Social Media?’ blog), we’re here to help you take the next step and grow your following.

Pop the kettle on and settle in for our 5 top ways to supercharge your social media:

1. Use Trending Audio

  • What does this mean? When you use music / sound which is already trending on social media, you’re giving the algorithm a big reason to boost your reach. It’s like rocket boosters for your posts!
  • How do I do it? When you click on the audio on a social post, you can see all the videos that are using it. Simply add that audio as the soundtrack to your content et voila – you’re officially riding the trend!
  • Give me an example: Pretty Little Baby by Connie Francis was trending for ages on TikTok recently  – the perfect choice for your baby class content!

POWER TIP: Why not try using trending music as the background song to your next piece of class content? (Click on the audio on any TikTok video then on the top righthand button that says ‘Top 50 number #’ to view the tracks trending this week – or on Instagram, click on ‘Trending’).

2. Jump on Trending Memes

  • What does this mean? As with trending audio, popular memes are a great way to ride the viral wave on socials. Trending memes can come in all sorts of forms, from dance routines to lip-syncing. By adding your own unique take on a meme format that’s trending on Instagram or TikTok, you’ll be able to show your sense of humour and increase your reach.
  • How do I do it? Simply scroll and find a meme that strikes a chord with you or fits well with your class content, then record your own version.
  • Give me an example: Some popular recent memes include ‘hear me out cakes’, ‘we listen and we don’t judge’ videos, and the ‘if I was a doll’ posts.

3. Use storytelling to show your personality

  • What does this mean? Behind-the-scenes footage in popular formats like Get Ready With Me (GRWM), A Day In The Life or Join Me for a Day At can help to showcase your personality as a class provider. They’re a nice easy way to get started with video content and give potential attendees a glimpse of what to expect from your classes.
  • How do I do it? When you first arrive for the day, set up your phone and film yourself getting ready for your classes. Once you’re done, you can adjust the speed settings to speed it up, add some trending audio and / or a voiceover explaining what you’re doing – and that’s it! You could also add relevant hashtags like #GRWM #businesssetup #classsetup #dailygrind #happity

4. Try Remixes

  • What does this mean? Remixing is when you re-post content from another Instagram account onto your own profile, adding your own caption. It’s a great way to share content you love without having to film and edit it yourself.
  • How do I do it? Click on the three dots at the top right corner of a post, then select ‘Remix’ (see screenshot below):
  • You can edit or add your own caption before re-posting to your own profile. (NB if you’re remixing content from a parent who attends your class, drop them a DM first to make sure they’re ok with it). Also make sure you’ve turned it on yourself so that people can share your posts!
  • Give me an example: We often use this function on Happity’s Instagram to share content from our providers, e.g. this lovely video from parent and baby choir @wesinguk.

5. Engage With Other Accounts

  • What does this mean? The social media gods (a.k.a. the algorithms) reward sociable users. This means the more you engage with other accounts, the more visible your own content will be to others. So don’t ‘post and ghost’! Remember: engagement is key.
  • How do I do it? Make sure you regularly like / comment / re-share / DM etc other users’ content, and follow plenty of accounts. Not only does it help with the algorithms, it’s also useful for inspiration – and nice to show support for other similar organisations!
  • Our resident social media whizz Leanne Warren explains:‘Social media can feel like a lot of work when it’s new to you. But it’s the cheapest form of marketing you’ll find. And it’s effective! The more you use your chosen social platforms, the more you’ll build connections with others in the parenting space. If you’re not sure where to start, try commenting on someone’s post. It’s a great way to get people to see you and, by extension, your classes.’
